GET INVOLVED

There are many fantastic ways to get involved in Edmund Rice Camps as a volunteer. Whether you are looking for work experience, completing your Duke of Ed Residential Award or a University unit, or maybe you know another Eddie Rice volunteer and you are just interested in becoming a part of our wonderful organisation for the fun and personal reward that it offers!

No matter what your interest, the process is pretty simple! We have outlined the steps below, and encourage you to sign up to our mailing list - it's where you will get all the information for upcoming training and programs.

 and Uni PLACEMENT

what should I do?

Here at Edmund Rice Camps, we are incredibly lucky to have hundreds of incredible people interested in volunteering on each of our camps. Most programs fill up quick and we have considerable waiting lists, too!

If you want to complete a placement for Uni or your Gold Residential Project as a Duke of Ed student, that is fantastic! While we will do everything we can to have you on board, it's important to remember that the kids are our NUMBER 1 priority.

STEPS:

1. Sign up to our mailing list - Just do it. You can then be amongst the first to sign up when training and camp opens for applications!

2. Sign up for and attend our New Leader Training - It's held about 4-6 weeks before camp and it is ESSENTIAL that you attend.

3. Apply for a Working With Children Check if you are over 18 years

4. Apply for camp!

Remember, we need to ensure our children are supported and that our volunteers have the necessary abilities, experience and passion to make it the best week ever. If you have a genuine interest in children and show us that we are more than just a box to tick, we are more likely to see the amazing skills you will bring to camp.

Camp Costs:

Uni Placement - We ask for a minimum $100 donation to contribute towards the cost of having you on camp.

Duke of Edinburgh - We ask for a minimum $200 donation to contribute towards the cost of having you on camp and the evaluation procedure afterwards.

For our wonderful Duke of Edinburgh Award Volunteers....

Please remember that we run our camps for the benefit of disadvantaged children. As much as we would like to place all our volunteer applicants on camp, we need to match your capacity to the needs of our children. This means that we can't take requests to be placed with friends and we won't confirm any placement on camp before you have completed training and we can meet you and get an idea of what you are like!

If you are concerned that you need to complete a Uni or DoE placement by a certain date, please organise a backup. And please, make sure you apply for training and camp as early as possible in your journey, as  we can often place our waitlisted applicants on a program in the following camp season!
